I had a good run this afternoon. First two miles weren't very fast but not as slow as I've been running lately, mile 3 was a 9:16 and that's with a decent hill thrown in half way, last .25 in 7:34 . It started to rain and thunder a little during the 3rd mile. I got to the mountain hill that I walk up to my house (.75 miles) and the heavens opened and God started bowling. I was soaked but totally loving it. I'm a big fan of thunderstorms.
Like RFTL said in her blog, I needed a confidence boost that I could still run fast. I'm not doing LHR running like her but this heat & humidity has been making me get slower each day and I've been really trying to stick to McMillan's stats for my runs so I've been worried I lost it. Now mind you, I'm not a fast runner but a 9:16 for me is awesome. My fastest mile was an 8:43 and it was just a mile time trial.

The heat and humidity zap all strength. I wouldn't worry too much about hitting the paces exactly. Does running early a.m. help at all?
I also feel like I have lead weights attached to my feet lately! I find running either first thing in the morning or at night (after the sun goes down) helps some. But acclimation takes a while so be patient!
I've been running first thing in the morning when I can but its hard to get my medium long runs in before work.
I hear you about the early morning thing... not all of us are RFTL! I was up at 4:45 this morning to get in 6 miles before taking DS2 to the camp bus.
Yawn.
And heat and humidity are killers.
I am almost always faster in the winter than in the summer, and I've heard from others that they have the same experience. Don't worry too much. Just keep base building!
