Base Training Schedule and already injuries!

I've added my base training calendar to the bottom of this blog. I started the schedule on Monday with the 5+ in the rain. According to Mcmillan this is the pace I should run these:

McMillan Stats:
Recovery: 12:12 to 12:42
Long run: 11:12 to 12:12
Easy run: 11:12 to 11:42

Well, I'm injured. Not from running but it may affect my running. Last night we were at a restaurant and I went to take Avery to the bathroom (she had hit her head on a chair and was screaming so I was carrying her trying to comfort her) and the floor changed from tile to this fake wood stuff and my feet just went out from under me. I landed hard on both knees with 30+ lbs of extra weight from Avery. I saw stars! I managed to get up and get into the bathroom and sit down. When I came back out the manager was there, asking if I was ok and getting my information for an incident report (they had also pulled out a mat to put on that area while I was in the bathroom. I showed him how slippery the floor was in my shoes (I had on flats, rubber soled shoes were fine according to Mike). Anyway, after we got home I looked at them and they were swelling and my left knee hurt too much to touch so I iced them and took some ibuprofen. This morning they are still swollen and hurt when I bend down or touch them. The left is slightly bruised.

I have 5 on the schedule today which I have to do after work because I have a Dr's appt at lunch. I did a mini jog down the hallway to see how it feels and I didn't feel any pain. Think I can run? It's my first week of this base schedule and I'd really hate to screw it up so soon. I'll give it a shot and if they seem to bother me I'll turn around and head home.

Hi Heather-

Sorry about your boo boo. That sounds painful! Did a pop help?

When I got bit by a dog, Tom's advice was "It's not a running injury so play it by ear." It was great advice. I'd start off my runs listening to my boo boo and if it got too bad I'd stop. But it never did get too bad and I plodded along (saying owie in my head) but I knew I wasn't making it any worse.

To make a long story short, your plan sounds fine! Good luck!

Psst ... I think you don't have permissions set on your calendar. Maybe it's a private calendar? You should set that particular calendar to Public so that we can see it :)
