I had my first post-race run today. My legs weren't too bad after the race but I figured I would make Monday a total rest day and yesterday I cross-trained (cardio core class and pilates class).
I probably should have gone out early this morning when it was cooler but I like to sleep in on the days I work from home. It was in the 80s today and very sunny. I wore my new tank that has the pocket in the chest for my ipod and a pair of Maria shorts. I decided I was going to run with sunglasses to see how that felt. I carried my new Nathan water bottle.
I was hoping to do a new route that I had found the other day so I headed in that direction. I made sure I ran very slow (which wasn't hard because I was hot and tired within a quarter mile. I felt strong on the hills though. The sunglasses started sliding as I began sweating. I kept pushing them up and eventually that caused my earphones to fall out. This went on until about 2.25 miles and I was really frustrated so I took off the glasses, turned around and headed back. Never got to the road I wanted to try out but I was fed up. I did 4.3. I walked the two really steep hills.
For a recovery run it was fine. I think racing the past two weekends has left me a little drained so the slow pace and walking was ideal for today. Tomorrow I plan on doing 3 at work unless we get the thunderstorms they are threatening, then its yoga and tension band classes.
I spent tonight cleaning the house. I have no idea what got into me. I hate cleaning the house during the week. It didn't help that Bella and Boots ripped up a rope bone and I had to vacuum that up, I guess from there I just kept going and going until the whole house was down. On a good note, maybe it will stay clean and I'll only have to touch it up this weekend (yeah, like that will happen with a 3.5 year old, 2 dogs and a husband!)
