I'm getting excited about the Broad Street 10 miler this Sunday. Also nervous. Last year I did so well at this race even after doing my first Half Mary the Sunday before. Perhaps it was the company or just the conditioning that helped but I completed in 1:40:15. I'm not so sure I'll do so well this year.
I was sooo surprised with my time for the half last week. I went in with no expectations and came away with an 8 min PR. I'm hoping the same can happen this week but 1:40:15 was really fast for me (although that day it didn't feel that bad) and still is! To do 10 min miles for 10 miles when you haven't trained and average a 10 to 10:30 on your regular runs seems like a pipe dream! And now on top of it all we're supposed to get thunderstorms! That will either make me run faster to get it done or slow me down!
Either way, I absolutely loved this race last year. It's an extremely fast course and a lot of fun so I can't wait. Best of all will be the pedicure and rootbeer float waiting for me when I'm done!
