I woke up at 5:30 this morning to head to the parkway for my long run. I was scheduled to do 9 miles. I got my coffee and jumped in the car. The weather was perfect. It was nice and cool and clear. I had on my Hind shorts, my new tank that carries my iPod in the chest and my light weight long sleeve. I parked at the hatchery and set off. Some guy in a mountain bike got there and started right when I did. He managed to do 4 loops in my one. I felt great and took my time. At close to the end of the 6 mile loop I made sure I did the killer hill. I passed my car as the biker dude was packing it up. I ran back down to the clubhouse and crossed the bridge to head back figuring it would be between 9 and 10 but that was fine. At around 8.3 I saw Jill running towards me. She ran with me to my car. I was a little tired at that point so it was nice to have someone to take to.
I decided to stop at The Fresh Market at the promenade on the way home to pick up a few groceries. It wasn't open yet so I walked for a bit and then got a Starbuck's iced coffee. I bought some tasty things at the market and headed home. Jill and I had a lengthy conversation about stretching and this inspired me to pull out my athletic stretching dvd by Karen Voight. It's pretty dry but the stretches feel great! I did the 45 minute dvd and added an additional 5 to 10 minutes of stretches for my hips and achilles. Then I iced my achilles, hamstrings and knees while watching the season finale of Grey's Anatomy.
I made us some lunch and then went off for some yardwork. Not sure what was harder the run or the weeding! I was sweating bullets! The side of the has two rhodedendrums and we haven't maintained it yet this year because we were planning on putting the landscape stone there. Well all this rain has made the weeds go crazy. Some were so rooted I needed a shovel! I got it done though and then finished trimming the bushes before coming in for a nice bath with Avery. Now I just need motivation to go down and start dinner.
It's funny, since I started my day so early with a high paced activity I feel like I can't relax and need to do something but my body is fighting me and wants to take a nap. I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow but not from my LR, from all that yard work!!!!

Sounds like my day, except I only went a bit over 6 miles and didn't pull too many weeds, but did mow the lawn.
